David---Life in Wilderness
Ten years of life in wilderness
The wilderness is a school of training for kings. It is also a place to learn how to live as a king.
There are geographical and spiritual wildernesses, and the people of God must pass through them for their edification.
David experiences the truth of God
God protected and sustained David while he was in a dry and weary land.
What is important? Not money, a job, family or love, but God only.
David experiences the beauty of God
David did not take God’s righteousness into his own hands by killing God’s anointed, Saul, but committed himself to God.
If one’s heart is turned towards God, bear the cross for the Lord’s sake, for the beauty of the Lord will be magnified in him.
David experiences the love of God
David was not alone in the cave of Adullam; his brothers, his father’s entire household, and about 400 men went down to him.
Love is seldom shown among rich people, but a group of poor people can learn what love is and display it.
David experiences the presence of God
The wilderness is a place to meet with God alone.
Solitude with God is better than possessing the friendship of the world, for your spiritual life will mature.
